Diane
Engelman is a licensed psychologist & neuropsychologist.
She provides psychological
and neuropsychological services in the
San Francisco Bay Area for children,
adolescents, adults, and couples.
She offers:
- Psychological Testing and
Assessment (also called Personality
Evaluation)
- Neuropsychological Assessment
and Evaluation
- Psychotherapy
- Cognitive Rehabilitation
- Consultation to Therapists,
Educators, and Assessors
A
psychological or neuropsychological
evaluation aims to help clients better
understand their strengths and
limitations - whether cognitive,
emotional, behavioral, or educational.
Information from an evaluation may also
be useful for family members, referring
professionals, and educators.
Until recently, clinical psychology and
neuropsychology focused primarily on
identifying problems and less on
strengths. Dr. Engelman, however, comes
from the perspective of positive
psychology and places significant
emphasis on a person’s capabilities. In
doing so, she recognizes the complexity
and richness of human neuro-diversity.
- Psychological Testing and
Assessment (Personality
Evaluation) explores what makes a
person unique in her or his style of
feeling, thinking, and interacting
with others. Through interviews,
questionnaires, tasks, and tests,
this evaluation identifies ways that
a person experiences and handles: 1)
emotion; 2) thought; 3) attitudes;
4) behavior; 5) relationships, 6)
coping methods; 7) personal goals
and 8) overall psychological
functioning. The purpose of this
evaluation is to provide insight
into major aspects of a person’s
psychological life.

- Intervention and Treatment
Planning occurs throughout the
psychological and neuropsychological
assessment process. With thought and
care, Dr. Engelman recommends
various options to the client and
then collaboratively develops a
treatment plan that may include
psychotherapy and cognitive
rehabilitation.

Therapeutic Assessment provides the framework for Dr.
Engelman’s personality and
neuropsychological evaluations. This
approach aids people in getting the most
from their assessment through on-going
dialogue. She encourages clients to be
curious about the assessment process and
findings, to form questions they wish
answered, and to collaborate with her at
each step. Her goal is enabling people
to better understand themselves and live
to their full potential. |
